BREAKFAST FOR DINNER: The KSU Spring General Meeting
It’s GM time! There’s so much fun stuff happening at this General Meeting I almost can’t even handle it myself. The meeting is Monday, March 31, at 7PM in Alumni Hall. We’ve got Committee Elections, Revised Bylaws, and the 2014-2015 Proposed Budget, plus a diner-worthy menu and some SuRpRiSeS!! Read on to find out more!HERE is the agenda!!
We will be electing general members-at-large to several committees. Below is a description of each committee’s duties. If you would like to be on a committee but cannot make it to the GM, email firstname.lastname@example.org or ask a friend to nominate you!
Elections Committee – 6 members, 2 alternates – Elections Committee works with the Chief Returning Officer to organize and facilitate elections. They help create posters, sit at the voting booths, and count ballots.
Bylaw Review Commitee – 3 members-at-large – My favourite! Bylaw Review Committee reviews proposed amendments to the Bylaws, and recommends changes to Council and the general membership. They make sure that our governing documents are accurate, transparent, and in keeping with Provincial and National law.
Equity Affairs Committee – 4 members-at-large – The Equity Affairs Committee formulates and drafts union policy on issues of equity. It also receives equity complaints regarding the Union and the wider University.
Environmental Affairs Committee – 2 members-at-large – This committee formulates Union environmental policy, and recommends policy to the wider University.
Galley Board of Directors – This board oversees the functioning of the Galley. What a blast!
Watch Board of Publishers – In collaboration with the Watch Executive, this board oversees the functioning and publishing of the Watch Magazine.
The Constitutional Review Committee has prepared a report on the Union’s revised governing documents. We have redistributed the documents (formerly the Constitution and Procedural Handbook) into the Bylaws and Operations Policy, to better reflect the needs and operations of the Union.Report of the Constitutional Review Committee
The report and the revised documents are also posted outside the KSU office.
The 2014-2015 proposed budget is a wonderful document prepared by the Executive and Finance Committee that outlines our planned spending for the next year!Proposed 2014-2015 Budget
It is also posted outside the KSU office for your reading pleasure!
The best part!! We’re going to be cooking up a storm of usually-eaten-in-the-morning food for all of you, including tater tots, bacon, waffles, apples, and whipped cream. DELISH!!
